LUCAS MOURA: Everything you need to know about our new signing…

On Transfer Deadline Day, last Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur signed the highly-rated midfielder, Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He is a pacey winger with a lot of potential, and someone who may be the missing piece of the jigsaw within the Spurs squad.

But who actually is Lucas?

  • Full Name: Lucas Rodrigues Moura Da Silva.
  • Name on the Shirt: Lucas.
  • Number on the Shirt: 27.
  • Age: 25.
  • Birth Place: Brazil.
  • Position: Winger.
  • Previous Clubs: Sao Paulo and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
  • Transfer Cost: In the region of £25 million.
  • Contract at Tottenham: Until 2023.

Lucas has been at PSG since 2013, where he made over 150 appearances, scoring 46 goals and managing to get 50 assists in 229 games for the club, where he also lifted several trophies. He also has over 30 senior appearances for his country Brazil and has scored 4 times. Unfortunately, the winger has been out of favour at PSG, since the the club signed Neymar and Mbappe, but joining Spurs is a chance of a new chapter for the young midfielder who seems to have a lot of potential.

Thankfully for Tottenham, Lucas has not appeared in the Champions League for PSG this season and therefore will be available for selection for Spurs in the knock-out stages, if selected in the squad.

Here below, is the link to the YouTube video containing all 19 goals Lucas scored in the 2016/17 season for PSG.

Watching this video you can see that Lucas is a very versatile players, of which all his goals are different. Including, brilliant solo runs, skills and tricks, headers, tap-ins, penalties as well as strikes from outside of the area! It seems that we have a right good player on our hands, if he can adapt well and quickly to the Premier League.

Lucas also expressed his delight to be able to play for such a big club in his first interview with Tottenham Hotspur;

“It’s a new chapter in my life, a new challenge for me. I’m so happy. I will give my best for this Club. I think we have a lot of quality and I think we can win big things.”

“I’ve joined a big club with big players and I look forward to playing and helping the team. I can play in the Champions League, which is a big objective for me and to make new friends is always a pleasure.”

“I will give my best for this Club. I think we have a lot of quality and I think we can win big things.”

Lucas was also very happy to see a good friend of his and former team mate, Serge Aurier, who both had a famous handshake at PSG, which was used in revealing Tottenham had signed Lucas:

“Serge said a lot of good things about the Club, about the coach, about the fans. He’s crazy! He’s a very nice guy and an amazing player. I’m so happy to play with him again.”

Our new number 27, Lucas, was also amazed at the amazing facilities we have at the club and is very excited to have the chance to play in our new stadium next season:

“Everything is perfect! I’ve never seen a training centre like this, it’s amazing. The new stadium as well – I’m so excited. I’m sure we will do big things together. It’s a pleasure for me to play for Tottenham.”
